Bernard's brain - your site brain is the first part of your business brain (beta)

Every good assistant learns your business before they touch it. They find out what you sell, who buys it, how you like to sound and what you never say. A new assistant who skips that step writes copy that is correct and wrong at the same time: the words are fine, but they are not yours.

Bernard has the same problem, and the answer is a brain. Your site brain is the first part of your business brain. It is in beta now, and we switch it on for your account when you ask.

What is in a site brain

A site brain is a short set of documents. Each one answers one question about your site:

  • About - what the business is, and the facts that must never be wrong
  • Voice - how you sound, the words you use and the words you avoid
  • Look - your colours, fonts and pictures, and the ones that must never change
  • Audience - who the site is for, what they need and what worries them
  • Offer - what you sell, your public prices, and what you do not offer
  • Strategy and goal - what the site is for, and what success looks like
  • Positioning - who else does what you do, and what makes you different
  • Site structure - each page and its job
  • Getting found - the searches you want to be found for
  • Proof - reviews, credentials and press
  • Content plan - the posts and campaigns you have planned
  • Policies and contact - your legal pages, contact details and opening hours
  • Decisions - a dated note of why the site is the way it is

How the beta works

We write the first drafts with you. When we switch the beta on, Bernard surveys your site: it reads your pages and drafts the documents it can. You start with a brain that is mostly filled in, not a blank form.

Ask what it knows. "What does Bernard know about my business?" gets you a plain summary of each document, and the gaps that matter most.

You check it. A brain that Bernard guessed and nobody corrected is only a guess. One real correction from you ("we stopped doing weddings in 2024") is worth more than a page of drafted text. In the beta you read and correct your brain by talking to Bernard through your own AI assistant. There is no page for it inside bernard yet.

Bernard suggests, you decide. When Bernard learns something new, it suggests a change to the right document and shows you the before and after. Nothing changes until you say yes. If you change your mind, the last change made through Bernard can be undone.

Bernard looks things up when a job needs them. It does not reread the brain every time; your short Your Style answers already cover how you sound and look. When a job depends on something only the brain knows - your audience before advice, your offer before writing about prices, your strategy before a redesign - Bernard reads that part. The work starts from what you told it, not from a guess.

Your own assistant reads it too. We give you the details to connect your assistant, such as Claude, to Bernard Brain. It reads the same documents, so nobody has to explain your business twice.

How it grows

The site brain describes your website: your public face. Most of what makes your business work is not on any page. How you work, your methods, your history, the rules you follow. That belongs one level up, in your business brain.

The business brain sits above the site brain. When a site brain has nothing on a subject, Bernard looks in the business brain. Each step adds to the same brain. Nothing moves and nothing starts again.

Both brains are kept in Sasha, Bernard's sister product, built by the people who built Bernard - Context Is Everything. Sasha is a private AI knowledge base, one for each organisation. Your site brain is where your part of it starts.

What stays out

  • Your contacts. Bernard does not put your mailing list, your buyers or your students into your brain. They stay in your contacts list.
  • Changes you did not approve. Bernard suggests. You decide.

How to get it

Bernard's brain is a beta, and we switch it on for your account, on request. Email [email protected] and ask for Bernard's brain. We will survey your site, write the first drafts with you and send you the details to connect your assistant.

That is the whole idea. Bernard learns your business once, writes it down where you can see it, and looks things up in it when a job needs them. The longer you work together, the more it knows.

Questions people ask

What is a site brain?
It is a set of short documents that describe your website: who it is for, what you sell, how you sound, how it looks, what each page is for, and what you want the site to do. Bernard and your own AI assistant read it, so neither has to guess about your business.
Is it available now?
Yes, as a beta. We switch it on for your account, on request. Email [email protected] and ask for Bernard's brain, and we will set it up with you.
Will Bernard change my brain without asking?
No. Bernard suggests a change and shows you the before and after. Nothing changes until you say yes, and you can undo the last change made through Bernard.
Do my customers' details go into the brain?
No. Bernard does not put your contacts, buyers or students into your brain. They stay in your contacts list. The brain describes your business and your site, not the people on your mailing list.
Who can read my brain?
You, and the AI tools you connect to it. It is kept in a private space for your account. Bernard and Sasha have no screen that shows it to our staff. As with any hosted service, the people who run the servers could reach the files.
Can my own AI assistant read it?
Yes. When we switch the beta on, we give you the details to connect your assistant, such as Claude, to Bernard Brain. It then reads the same brain Bernard reads, so you do not have to explain your business again in every chat.
