My animation is too much, or I want it off
Movement is like seasoning. One or two animations on a page draw the eye to what matters; more than that and they compete. If your site feels busy, it is easy to calm it down.
The prompt
“Calm my site down: list every animation by page, suggest which to keep, and take off the ones I agree to.”

Take one off
Say which one: “take the shimmer off the sale line on my home page”. bernard takes it off in your draft. Publish when you are happy.
Calm my site down
Ask bernard to “calm my site down”. It:
- lists every animation on your site, page by page;
- suggests keeping the one or two that do a job, such as numbers that count up on your proof, or a countdown to your next event;
- takes off only the ones you agree to, in your draft.
You can also ask for every animation on one page to come off at once.
What stays
- Your words and pictures. Only the movement goes.
- Built pieces. A countdown, a before and after slider, bars that fill, a flip card and similar pieces stay on the page as they are, without the movement. Ask bernard to remove the piece from the page if you want it gone.
- bernard’s library. It stays on your site, ready if you want an animation again later.
For how adding works, see How do I add an animation to my site?.
Questions people ask
- Will taking an animation off delete my content?
- No. Your words and pictures stay exactly where they are. For a built piece, such as a countdown, a before and after slider, bars that fill or a flip card, the piece stays on the page and only the movement goes. To take the piece away as well, ask bernard to remove it from the page.
- When do my visitors see the change?
- When you publish. Taking an animation off is a change to your draft like any other, and the publish is your approval.
- Can I put it back?
- Yes. Undo the change before you publish, or ask bernard to add the animation again. After a publish, you can also put back an earlier version of your site.
