How can I send a personal email to one person from my AI?
Use your connected AI to write a check-in, answer a question or follow up with one person. Your site needs its own verified sending domain. An address shared from another site cannot be used for personal email.
The prompt
“Help me write a personal email from [my site] to [email address] about [subject]. Show me the sending address and draft, then wait for my approval.”
Signed in, Get my prompt fills in your site for you. Otherwise press Copy and fill in the [bracketed] parts. First time? Connect your AI to bernard once: Use your own AI (opens in a new tab).
Choose who you write as
Ask your AI which sending addresses are available for the site. Each has a name and says whether a person reads replies. An account owner can add or remove addresses on the site’s own sending domain. The site’s default address stays on the list.
These are sending identities. They do not create inboxes or forward replies. How does email sending work, and do I need my own address? explains how to set up the sending domain.
Read it, then approve it
Give your AI the recipient, subject and message. It checks the address and your site’s daily allowance, then shows who will receive it, who it comes from and where replies go. Read the full draft before giving your approval. A changed draft needs a fresh approval.
Each email reaches one address. There is no cc or bcc, and it goes immediately after you confirm. For news to a group, use How do email campaigns work?.
If a connection drops, your AI can check the same send without sending it again. If Bernard cannot confirm whether it went out, check the result before asking for another email.
Find it on the person’s record
When the recipient is already a contact, the sent email appears in their Activity with the writer’s name and subject. Your AI can read their recent correspondence too. Sending to a new address does not create a contact.
A daily limit protects each site’s sending. If you reach it, wait until the next UK day. Opens and clicks are recorded only for recipients who agreed to that recording, under the site’s existing settings.
Questions people ask
- Where can I use this?
- In a connected AI with permission to send personal email. Grant that permission when connecting. It is separate from campaign permission and is not included automatically. The Workshop chat does not yet have it.
- Can I stop it after approving?
- No. After your final approval it goes straight away and cannot be recalled. Read the message, recipient and sending address before saying yes.
- Where do replies go?
- To the sending address unless you choose another reply address. Adding a sender does not create a mailbox, so make sure someone receives replies there.
- Does a marketing unsubscribe prevent a personal reply?
- An unsubscribe alone does not. An address that bounced, complained or was blocked by the owner cannot receive personal email from the site.
