Replies to my emails should go to a shared inbox, not my own
When someone presses Reply on one of your emails, their reply goes to one inbox. Until you choose otherwise, that is the account owner’s own address.
The prompt
“On [my site], make replies to every email go to [info@mydomain.com] instead of my own address, then send me a test so I can check it.”

Choosing the inbox
Ask Bernard in a conversation, for example: “Make replies to my emails go to info@mydomain.com.” Only an account owner can make this change. Bernard saves it for that site and tells you where replies go now. Then ask for a test email to yourself and press Reply to check.
The site needs email sending set up first. If it is not, Bernard says so and lists the steps; a site that sends no email has no replies to route.
What it changes and what it does not
- It changes where replies go for campaigns, automatic email sequences (course emails that follow a student’s progress included) and test sends from that site.
- It does not cover bernard’s own short notices to a student, such as the course welcome, an order receipt or a certificate being ready. Those come from bernard’s address.
- It does not change the address the email comes from. See Emails to my customers should come from my own address for that.
- It does not create a mailbox. The inbox you choose must already exist and be read by someone.
Questions people ask
- Where do replies go if I never change this?
- To the email address of the account owner, the person who signed up. That is fine for a one-person business. If your emails tell people to reply and a team reads a shared inbox, choose that inbox instead.
- Which emails does it cover?
- Every email your site sends to your audience: campaigns, each step of an automatic email sequence (course emails that follow a student’s progress included) and the test sends you ask for. It does not change the address the email comes from. bernard’s own short notices to a student (the course welcome, an order receipt, a certificate is ready) come from bernard’s address and are not covered yet.
- Do I need a separate setting for each site?
- Yes. Each site that sends email has its own reply address, so a courses site and a main site can use the same inbox or different ones. Ask Bernard to set it on each.
- Can the reply address be on a different domain from the one I send from?
- Yes. Replies can go to any one inbox you read, for example a courses site that sends from its own domain with replies to info@ on your main domain.
- What about emails I already sent?
- They keep the reply address they went out with. The new address applies to everything sent from about a minute after you change it.
- Will Bernard change it without asking me?
- No. Bernard changes it only when you ask, and tells you the address it saved. It sends no email when it does, so there is no separate approval step: your next email simply carries the new reply address.
- How do I put it back?
- Ask Bernard to send replies back to the account owner. Your own address is used again from then on.
