Can I give myself more room to edit my site?

When you are working on your page, the chat can take up room you would rather give to your site. In Bernard’s workshop, Wide screen folds the chat away so your site fills the screen, and you carry on editing right there.

The prompt

“N/A - Wide screen is a button above the preview in the workshop, not a chat prompt.”

Signed in, Get my prompt fills in your site for you. Otherwise press Copy and fill in the [bracketed] parts. First time? Connect your AI to bernard once: Use your own AI (opens in a new tab).

Turn on Wide screen

  1. Open the workshop on the This site tab. Your site sits beside the chat.
  2. Press Wide screen above the preview. The chat folds away and your site takes the whole width.
  3. Press it again whenever you want the chat back. Your conversation, the changes waiting on your draft and the comments on the page are all where you left them.

What you can do with the whole screen

  • Point at anything. As you move across the page, the highlight follows you, and each thing you point at offers what fits: Edit text on a heading or a paragraph, Swap on a photo, Duplicate on a section. See Point at exactly what you want changed for how pointing works.
  • Change words yourself. Double-click a heading and type. It goes straight into your draft, with no message to Bernard - see Can I just edit the text or swap a photo right there on the page?.
  • Swap a photo. Click it, choose Swap, and pick another from your own library.
  • Leave a comment. Click a spot and write a note. Leave Send to Bernard ticked and he answers beside it, and he can make the change in your draft. Or press Comment on an area and draw a box round a whole part of the page. See Leave a note on your page for Bernard.

Everything you do here lands on your draft, the same as in the chat. Nothing reaches your visitors until you approve it.

Questions people ask

Does Wide screen close my conversation with Bernard?
No. It only hides the chat while you work on the page. Press Wide screen again and the chat comes back exactly as you left it, with your conversation, the changes waiting on your draft and the comments on the page.
Can I still ask Bernard for things while the chat is hidden?
Yes. Click any spot on your site and leave a comment with Send to Bernard ticked. He answers beside the spot, and anything he changes lands on your draft.
Does anything I do in Wide screen go live straight away?
No. Every edit, swap and change Bernard makes lands on your draft. Nothing reaches your visitors until you approve it, the same as everything else in the workshop.
Why can’t I see Wide screen on my phone?
It is for bigger screens, where the chat and your site sit side by side. On a phone the preview already takes the whole width.
