Swap the homepage image
The homepage image is the first thing anyone sees, and it's usually the most out of date — last year's work, last season's light. On a bernard-hosted site, swapping it is a paste and a sentence.
How it works
- Get your access prompt. Log in to bernard, open your site, and copy the prompt from Edit with AI (it contains a key that works for 12 hours).
- Paste it into your AI — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, whichever you already use — then paste the new photo into the same chat and ask, or use the prompt below.
- Approve. The AI sends back a preview link. Check the new image sits right at the top of the page, press Approve, and it's live.
While it's there, ask the AI to write a short description of the new image for search engines — it keeps your site findable and takes no extra effort.
The prompt
“Replace the main image on my homepage with [paste the new photo into the chat, or give a link to where it is online] — keep it the same size and position.”
The [bracketed] parts are yours to fill in. First time? Log in to bernard → your site → Edit with AI → copy your access prompt, paste that into your AI first, then ask the above.
Questions people ask
- How do I change the main picture on my website?
- If your site is hosted with bernard, paste the new photo into a chat with your AI — ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini — and ask it to swap the homepage image. It uploads the photo, puts it in place, and sends you a preview to approve before anything goes live.
- Can I use a photo from Instagram or another website?
- Yes — give the AI the link to a public post or page and it can fetch the main image from it. If the post is private or login-walled, just paste the photo into the chat instead.
- What happens to the old image?
- Nothing is lost. The change waits on a preview until you press Approve, and bernard keeps a full year of history — so if you miss the old photo next month, it can be put straight back.
