Translate a page
If your buyers, students or visitors think in another language, a translated page is the warmest welcome you can give them - and the kind of job that sits on a to-do list for years. On a bernard-hosted site it’s one ask.
The prompt
“Translate my [name of the page] page into [the language] and add it as a new page, linked from the original - keep names, prices and addresses exactly as they are.”
Signed in, Get my prompt fills in your site for you. Otherwise press Copy and fill in the [bracketed] parts. First time? Connect your AI to bernard once: Use your own AI (opens in a new tab).
How it works
- Connect bernard to your AI (once). Log in to bernard, open your site, go to Use your own AI, and paste the setup prompt into your AI to connect it - a one-time setup.
- Paste it into your AI - ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, whichever you already use - then ask in your own words, or use the prompt below.
- Approve. The AI sends back a preview link. Check the new page and the link between the two versions, press Approve, and it’s live.
Tell the AI who the page is for - formal or familiar address matters in many languages - and it will choose the right register, not just the right words.
Questions people ask
- How do I add a translated version of a page to my website?
- If your site is hosted with bernard, ask your AI - ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini - to translate the page and add it as a new page with a link between the two. You see both on a preview, and nothing goes live until you press Approve.
- Can I check the translation if I don’t speak the language well?
- Ask the AI to translate it back into English so you can compare, or send the preview link to a friend who speaks the language - the preview is a real page anyone can look at before you approve.
- Will the translated page show up in searches in that language?
- It can - it’s a real page on your site, so ask the AI to give it a translated title and description too. The AI preserves your site’s search-engine metadata when it edits, and a full year of history means you can remove or redo it any time.
