Who signed up recently?
An audience arrives quietly, a few people at a time, and it is easy to miss the month it started growing. Reports in the menu, then the Subscribers chip, tells you where you stand.
What it shows
- everyone whose details you hold, and how many of those arrived in this window
- how many of them agreed to hear from you, which is the number that decides who you can lawfully write to
- how many are course students and how many are paying members
- one line per site, so you can see which of your sites introduces people
- how new contacts arrived - a course sign-up, a checkout, a contact form, a newsletter box
- the newest few, by name, with the site that brought them in
Consent is the number that matters
Holding an email address is not permission to use it. The report keeps the two figures apart on purpose: contacts, and contacts who agreed. If the second one is low, the fix is on the forms rather than in the report - When do I need someone's permission to email them? explains what the wording has to say and why the record of it is worth having.
From here
Everything the report counts lives in full on your Contacts page, where you can read, tag and export the people themselves - Where do the people who buy, join or ask end up? is the tour. The report is the weekly glance; Contacts is the filing cabinet.
If the numbers are healthy and sales are not, the two other chips on the same page are the next thing to look at: See how sales are going and How many people visited my site?.
The prompt
“Who has signed up lately? Show me new contacts, how many agreed to hear from me, and which site introduced them.”
Press Copy, then paste it into your AI and fill in the [bracketed] parts. First time? Connect your AI to bernard first - a one-time setup in bernard → your site → Use your own AI.
Questions people ask
- How do I see who joined my mailing list this month?
- Open Reports and press Subscribers. You get your total contacts, how many new ones arrived in the window, how many agreed to hear from you, and the newest few by name. It only reads your records, so there is nothing to approve and nothing changes.
- What is the difference between a contact and someone I can email?
- A contact is anyone whose details you hold. Someone you can email is a contact who actively agreed to it. The report shows both, because the second number is the one that matters when you write to people.
- Can I see which site brought someone in?
- Yes. Every new contact is tagged with the site that introduced them, and the by-site line shows which of your sites is doing the introducing. Run more than one site and this is usually the most useful line on the card.
