If you teach inside ThriveCart Learn, you have probably seen the notice. ThriveCart is retiring Learn and Learn+ "at the end of 2026". Accounts opened after 19 May 2026 never got Learn at all.
It is easy to read that as "ThriveCart is closing". It is not. Only the course host is going. The checkout, your pricing options, your coupons and your purchase notifications carry on. That one fact opens up more choices than most "alternatives" lists suggest, so here they all are, in order, including the option of doing nothing.
What ThriveCart says is happening
From ThriveCart's own help pages, read on 11 October 2026:
- Learn and Learn+ close at the end of 2026. No day is given.
- Your courses and students move automatically to ThriveAcademy's course section, ThriveCart's newer, community-first product.
- Courses stay free there in what ThriveCart calls "course-only mode". Students keep their access without paying anything.
- The extras cost money. Video hosting and community features come only with a paid ThriveAcademy plan, and a custom domain needs at least the middle plan. Existing Learn+ users keep their custom domain.
- The move is paused. ThriveCart says: "As of August 13, Migration from Learn to Academy has been paused while the team works out issues related to missing content during migration." The page gives no date for it to restart.
- There is no export. Neither page describes a way to export your course content.
So you face three things at once: a deadline, a possible new monthly bill, and an automatic move that is on hold.
Your options
1. Do nothing, and let your courses move to ThriveAcademy
This is a real option, and for some creators it is the right one. Your courses and students move across, and course-only mode costs nothing.
What to check first:
- Where your videos live. If your lessons embed videos from Vimeo or YouTube, they keep playing from there. If you relied on ThriveCart to host them, video hosting now comes with a paid plan.
- Your address. Without a paid plan (or an existing Learn+ licence), your courses do not sit on your own domain.
- The pause. Until ThriveCart restarts the move and says the missing-content problem is fixed, check every lesson after it arrives.
2. Pay for ThriveAcademy
ThriveAcademy's plans, from ThriveCart's FAQ:
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $37 a month ($444 a year) | $47 a month | Video storage (100 GB), community up to 2,000 members |
| Growth | $67 a month ($804 a year) | $87 a month | Your own domain, 500 GB of video, community up to 10,000 |
| Scale | $97 a month ($1,164 a year) | $127 a month | Your own branding, unlimited video and members |
Every plan includes quizzes, certificates and course hosting. Your ThriveCart checkout is a separate bill, as it is now.
3. Move to another course platform
Kajabi, Podia, Teachable and Thinkific all host courses, and all of them sell through their own checkout. None of their pricing pages mention ThriveCart, so plan to move your selling to them as well, or ask them first how a ThriveCart sale would enrol a student. Their entry prices, read from each vendor's own pricing page on 11 October 2026:
| Platform | Cheapest plan, billed yearly | Cut of your sales | The plan most course sellers use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kajabi | Basic, $143 a month | 2% if you use your own payment provider | Growth, $199 a month |
| Podia | Mover, $42 a month | 5% | Shaker, $84 a month, no fee |
| Teachable | Starter, $29 a month | 7.5% | Builder, $69 a month, no fee with Teachable Payments |
| Thinkific | Basic, £34 a month | None beyond card fees with Thinkific Payments | Start, £69 a month |
Each one has its own full breakdown on The Measure: Kajabi 2026 pricing, explained - what a Kajabi site really costs, Podia 2026 pricing, explained - what Podia really costs, Teachable 2026 pricing, explained - what Teachable really costs and Thinkific 2026 pricing, explained - what Thinkific really costs.
4. Keep your ThriveCart checkout, and move only the courses
Because the checkout is staying, you do not have to move your selling at all. You can keep your ThriveCart products, prices, payment plans and coupons exactly as they are, and give the courses a new home.
This is how bernard works with ThriveCart:
- Your courses go on your own website, at your own address, as part of the site rather than beside it. Lesson videos are transcribed, so the words inside your lessons become text that search engines and AI assistants can read.
- ThriveCart keeps selling. Connect ThriveCart to bernard once. Each purchase then enrols the buyer on the matching course, sends their welcome email and sign-in link, and adds them to your contacts. An order bump or an upsell can enrol on a second course. Refunds and failed payments can add a tag you choose.
- Your students do not need new passwords. A student signs in with a link sent to their email address. You bring your student list, and each student gets a link to the course they bought.
- The cost is £800 a year: £200 for the website and £600 for courses and memberships, in pounds, with nothing taken from your sales. You keep paying ThriveCart for your checkout, as you do now.
How the courses get there: today, bernard rebuilds each course with you. You share your video links and lesson notes, and bernard builds the lessons in order, as a private draft. Nothing goes live until you approve it. The full inventory of what comes across in a course move is here: Can I move my online course without losing my library?.
We are building an automatic importer for ThriveCart Learn courses, and we are looking for the first creators to use it. If that is you, email hello@bernardmoves.com with the subject "ThriveCart Learn importer", your ThriveCart account name, and roughly how many courses and students you have.
How to choose
- A few courses, videos already on Vimeo or YouTube, no need for your own address: doing nothing may be fine. Check every lesson once the move restarts.
- You want everything in one platform and do not mind moving your selling: compare the platforms above on the plan you would really use, not the cheapest one.
- You are happy with ThriveCart for selling: keep it, and move only the courses to a site that is yours.
Whichever you choose, start with a list of every course, every lesson and where each video lives. You will need it for any of the four options, and it is the one thing the deadline cannot take from you.
Every pricing option bernard has is shown on one demonstration site, a small pottery school: see its pricing page.
Questions people ask
- When does ThriveCart Learn close?
- ThriveCart says Learn and Learn+ 'will be retired at the end of 2026'. It does not give a day. Accounts opened after 19 May 2026 never had Learn at all.
- What happens to my courses if I do nothing?
- ThriveCart says creators and students move to ThriveAcademy's course section automatically, and that courses stay free in a 'course-only mode'. Video hosting, community features and a custom domain then come only with ThriveAcademy's paid plans, from $37 a month billed yearly. ThriveCart also says the move from Learn to ThriveAcademy has been paused since 13 August while it fixes problems with missing content.
- Can I keep my ThriveCart checkout?
- Yes. Only Learn, the course host, is being retired. ThriveCart's own pages describe the checkout, pricing options, coupons and purchase notifications carrying on. So you can keep selling exactly as you do now and move only the courses.
- Can I export my courses from ThriveCart Learn?
- ThriveCart's pages give no way to export course content. Plan to rebuild your lessons from your own video links and notes, or move with someone who rebuilds them with you.
- Is there an automatic way to move a Learn course to bernard?
- Not yet. Today bernard rebuilds each course with you from your video links and notes. We are building an automatic importer for Learn courses and are looking for the first creators to use it. Email hello@bernardmoves.com with the subject 'ThriveCart Learn importer'.
