Thinkific 2026 pricing, explained - what Thinkific really costs
Thinkific deserves a small round of applause before the arithmetic: it is the only course platform of the big four whose pricing page showed us pounds. When What an online course platform really costs in 2026 - Podia, Kajabi, Teachable and the rest read the whole category's pricing pages in July, every one quoted US dollars. Thinkific's page, read on 24 August 2026, quotes £34, £69, £139. A UK seller can, for once, write the number down.
Then the number that matters most is not on the page. Here is the whole bill, set out the way Bernard sets out a quote. Every line, including the missing one.
What Thinkific charges in 2026
| Plan | Billed yearly | The year's bill | Billed monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | £34 a month | £408 | £46 a month |
| Start | £69 a month | £828 | £92 a month |
| Grow | £139 a month | £1,668 | £186 a month |
The Plus tier on top is priced by sales conversation. One thing the page does not say: whether those pound prices include VAT. Check the first invoice before you compare them with anything.
The number that is not on the page
Take payments through Thinkific's own system and the page quotes 2.9% card processing, in line with what Stripe and PayPal charge everyone.
Use your own Stripe or PayPal instead, the account you already have, with your own payout history, and an additional Thinkific fee applies. How much? The page says only that it varies per plan type, and points at a support article for the details.
We will not print a number the pricing page does not carry. But the category context matters: the same use-your-own-provider fee is 2% on Kajabi Basic, and the cheap-plan commissions elsewhere run to 7.5%. A fee that varies by plan and is not printed next to the prices is a fee you should make them state in writing before you sign up. It is the one line of this bill you cannot fill in from the page, and it is not the small one.

What the price is really for
Thinkific Start at £828 and Bernard at £800 sit a pound-a-week apart, so the choice is what the money buys, not the money.
Thinkific's figure buys a full teaching machine: quizzes, certificates, per-student progress, communities on the higher plans. If your teaching leans on assessment, that is real value and Bernard will not pretend to match it.
Bernard's £800 buys your whole website, moved in free and rebuilt so it loads fast and reads clearly to people and to the search and AI tools that now read the web, with the course living on it: lessons with video, automatic transcripts and captions, a free preview lesson, paid or free or invitation-only enrolment, a members area, recurring memberships on your own Stripe. He takes nothing from your sales at any level, and every fee he charges is printed on the pricing page next to the price. No line of the bill varies by plan type.
Paste your current address and Bernard will measure up, free, and show you the new place before you decide anything.
Questions people ask
- How much does Thinkific cost per year in the UK in 2026?
- Basic is £34 a month billed yearly, £408 for the year. Start is £69 a month billed yearly, £828. Grow is £139 a month billed yearly, £1,668. Paying month by month costs more: £46, £92 and £186. The Plus tier is priced by sales conversation. Figures from the pricing page Thinkific showed us on 24 August 2026, quoted in pounds, which makes it unusual: most course platforms quote only dollars.
- What transaction fees does Thinkific charge?
- Through Thinkific's own payment system, the page quotes 2.9% card processing. Use your own Stripe or PayPal instead and an additional Thinkific fee applies which, in the page's own words, varies per plan type. The page does not say how much. That missing number is worth chasing before you sign up, because on other platforms the same fee runs from half a per cent to five.
- Does Thinkific add VAT?
- The pricing page we read on 24 August 2026 does not say whether its pound prices include VAT. That is the difference between the price on the page and the price on the invoice, so check your first invoice or ask before you compare figures.
- Is there an alternative to Thinkific with no cut of sales?
- Bernard hosts a whole website with a course on it for £800 a year flat, the £200 yearly plan plus the £600 courses addition. He takes nothing from your sales at any level, payments run on your own Stripe account, and £800 is the number you pay, with nothing added at the checkout. The honest caveat: Thinkific does quizzes, certificates and per-student progress tracking, and Bernard does not.
