Download or archive photos from your library
Your photos are yours - the library holds them, it doesn't hold them hostage. Two housekeeping jobs live on the Image Library page: getting your originals back out, and retiring the ones you no longer want offered up when Bernard builds. The workshop's Image gallery tab is the same library pinned to the site you're working on, so everything below works there too.
Download your originals
- Open Image Library and press Select.
- Tick the photos you want - or Select page to take everything showing.
- Press Download. One photo saves straight down; two or more arrive as a single zip, each file named after its card so the folder makes sense when you open it.
What you get is the original file, not a thumbnail or a compressed copy.
Archive what you don't need
Ticking photos and pressing Archive retires them: they leave your library views and Bernard stops reaching for them when a page needs a picture. Nothing is deleted - the file stays exactly where it was, and any page already using the photo keeps it.
If any of the photos you've selected are on live pages, bernard says so before anything happens - which photos, and which pages - so a tidy-up never turns into a surprise.
Change your mind
Press Archived on the library page to see everything you've retired. Tick any of them and press Restore - they're back in the library as if they never left.
If what you're really after is clearing out duplicate photos, ask Bernard to [[remove-duplicate-photos|clear out duplicate photos]] first - he'll group the copies so you archive the spares, not the originals.

Questions people ask
- How do I download my photos from my website?
- Open your Image Library, press Select, tick the photos you want and press Download. One photo saves as itself; several arrive together as a single zip file, each named after its card.
- Can I delete photos from my library?
- You archive them instead - the photo drops out of your library and Bernard stops offering it for new pages, but the file itself is never deleted. The Archived view shows everything you've retired, and Restore brings any of them back with one click.
- What happens if I archive a photo that's on one of my pages?
- Nothing changes on the page - archiving retires the card, it never touches your site, and nothing you later publish goes live without your approval as usual. Before archiving, bernard checks and tells you which of the selected photos are on live pages and where, so you decide with the facts in front of you.
- Is there a limit on how much I can download at once?
- A batch is capped at 200 photos or 500 MB per zip - past that, split it into smaller batches. There's no limit on how often you download; they're your files.
