Get a contract signed
The Seal is how bernard gets a contract signed. You send an agreement to one person (a client, a supplier, a tutor, a student starting a programme), they read it and sign it on one page, and you both end up with the same signed PDF and the proof of who signed it and when. No separate signing service, and no second login.
The prompt
“Send [client’s full name] at [their email address] an agreement to sign for [what it is for, for example: my six-week glazing mentorship]. These are the terms: [paste your terms, or say what they should cover].”
Signed in, Get my prompt fills in your site for you. Otherwise press Copy and fill in the [bracketed] parts. First time? Connect your AI to bernard once: Use your own AI (opens in a new tab).
How it works
- Say what it is and who it is for. Tell Bernard what the agreement is for, and paste in your own terms, or ask him to draft them with you (Write the agreement I send, or use the contract I already have). Give the person’s full name and email address.
- Check the sample. Bernard prints a sample and shows you page 1. He reads back the person’s name, their email address, the title, the number of pages and the date the link stops working. Nothing is sent until you say yes.
- They get an email. The email says who it is from, what the agreement is, and that nothing is agreed until they sign. It comes from your site’s sending address when it has one (from hello@bernardmoves.com when it has not), and carries a private link.
- They read it and sign it. The link opens the whole agreement on its own page. They type their full name, tick “I have read this agreement and I agree to it”, and press Sign. If something is not right, they can decline and say why instead (Someone has not signed the agreement I sent).
- You countersign. Unless you said you would not sign it yourself, the agreement then waits for you in Your customers > The Seal. Press Countersign, type your name, tick the same box and sign.
- You both get the signed copy. bernard prints the final PDF and emails it to both of you. Its last page is the certificate of signing: who signed, when, from which email address, and the document’s fingerprint.
Where you see it
Your customers > The Seal lists every agreement you have sent and where each one has got to: waiting, signed and waiting for you to countersign, complete, declined, expired or withdrawn. You can also ask Bernard “did Priya sign the mentorship agreement?” at any time. When the person is in your contacts, the agreement shows on their page too (See who has signed an agreement in my contacts).
The signing page
The page is at a long private address on bernardmoves.com that cannot be guessed, and search engines are told not to list it. It shows the agreement in full, with a download of the exact PDF being signed. Once everyone has signed, the same page says Signed, shows who signed and when, the fingerprints, and a download of the signed copy, with the Seal’s rosette sitting faintly behind it. Every page carries a small badge in the bottom right corner: “Built with Bernard” until the agreement is signed, and “Signed with Bernard” once it is.
What it is for, and what it is not for
The Seal is for ordinary business agreements: client terms, a coaching or mentoring agreement, a tutor’s marking contract, a supplier agreement, a consent form. Some documents need more than a typed name, such as deeds, anything that needs a witness, land, wills and guarantees. Never use The Seal for those. Does a typed name count as a signature? lists them and explains what the proof shows.
Questions people ask
- Does Bernard send it straight away?
- No. Bernard prints a sample first and reads back the person’s full name, their email address, the title and the date the link stops working. Nothing goes out until you approve it.
- Does the person signing need an account or an app?
- No. They open the link in the email, read the agreement, type their full name, tick the box and press Sign. Nothing to install and nothing to log in to.
- Can Bernard countersign for me?
- No. Countersigning is your signature, so you do it yourself in Your customers > The Seal. Bernard never signs on your behalf, and he never sends or withdraws an agreement without your approval.
- Who has The Seal?
- It is included on Nautilus Large and for Sasha clients. On Nautilus Small and Nautilus Medium it is an add-on at £50 a year: tell us and we will switch it on. Once it is on, there is no limit on how many you send in a year.
