Write the agreement I send, or use the contract I already have
An agreement in bernard has two halves. The words in the middle are yours. The frame around them is bernard’s, and it is the same on every agreement, so the person signing always knows where they stand.
The prompt
“Help me write an agreement for [what it is for, for example: a one-to-one coaching package]. It should cover [the price, the dates, cancellations, anything else]. Show me a sample before anything is sent.”

Your half: the words
Paste in the contract you already use, or tell Bernard what the agreement needs to cover and write it together. Keep it to plain words: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and links. Pictures, scripts, colours and styled text are refused, because nothing in an agreement may be hidden from the person who signs it.
A few details can fill themselves in, so the same wording works for the next person: the person’s name and email address, your business name, the agreement’s title, its reference number and the date it was sent. Ask Bernard to put them where they belong. Anything else that changes each time, such as a price or a start date, you write into the text before it goes.
bernard’s half: the frame
- The heading, with your logo where bernard has it on record, otherwise your business name.
- The reference number, which is given when the agreement is sent, and the page numbers.
- The signing block at the end, where the names and dates go once each side has signed. You cannot remove it or move it.
- The consent wording. Every person who signs ticks the same sentence: “I have read this agreement and I agree to it. I understand that pressing Sign is my signature.” Nobody can change it, and bernard records which wording each signature was given under.
See it before it goes
Bernard always prints a sample first and shows you page 1, with a made-up reference number and a made-up person unless you have already said who it is for. Read it, change what you want, and only then say send. Sending is Get a contract signed.
Once an agreement is sent, its words are fixed. To change one, Someone has not signed the agreement I sent explains how to withdraw it and send a new one.
Questions people ask
- Can I use the contract I already have?
- Yes. Paste the text in. Bernard keeps your wording as it is and shows you a sample to approve before anything is sent.
- Can I change the wording the person agrees to when they sign?
- No. The sentence they tick is the same on every agreement, and nobody can change it, including you and Bernard. It is what makes their tick a signature.
- Can I add pictures or colours?
- No. The agreement itself is plain words: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and links. bernard refuses anything that could hide a clause from the person signing, such as tiny or coloured text, because the proof covers every word on the page.
- Does bernard keep my wording for next time?
- Not as a saved template. Keep your wording in a document of your own and paste it in each time; Bernard fills in the person’s details for you.
