Group my products into collections
Ten products on one page is a shop; forty is a jumble. Collections are how a bernard shop stays walkable as it grows: named groups — Prints, Originals, Mugs, Gift Ideas — each with its own page, linked from the shop so a buyer who only wants prints goes straight to prints.
How it works
Name the groups and say what goes in each. That's the whole job:
- A collection is created the first time you use its name — no separate setting-up step.
- Each collection gets its own page at a tidy address like
/collections/prints/, listing everything in it. - Your shop page grows a row of links to the collections, so visitors can browse by kind rather than scroll the lot.
- A product can belong to several collections at once — the original that's also a gift idea appears in both.
Only collections with something in them appear; empty ones keep no page and no link, so there's never a bare shelf on show.
Choosing good groups
Group by how buyers shop, not how you store things. "Prints" and "Originals" answer the first question in a buyer's head — what can I afford? — better than "2024 work" ever will. Three to six collections suits most small shops; beyond that, the links themselves become a jumble.
Collections sort the shop by kind; the order within the shop page is its own lever (Reorder my shop page) — lead with the work you most want sold. And a new piece can go straight into its collection as you add it (Add a new product to my shop page): "add this, priced £120, and put it in Originals."

- How do I make a 'Prints' page on my shop?
- Say which products belong in it. A collection is created the first time you name it, gets its own page — yourshop's address followed by /collections/prints/ — and the shop page links to it. As ever, you approve the result on a preview before it goes live.
- Can one product be in more than one collection?
- Yes — a piece can sit in Prints and in Gift Ideas at once; each collection page simply lists what belongs to it. Add or move things later by asking, and approve the change as usual.
- What happens to a collection when it's empty?
- It stays out of sight. Only collections with products in them get a page and a link on the shop, so an emptied-out collection never leaves a bare shelf for visitors to wander into.
