Everything bernard knows about your business lives in a small set of brains. There is one business brain for the whole business, and a site brain for each website that has one. You can see all of them, and open any of them, by asking.

List your brains
Ask bernard to list everything it knows about your business. It shows each brain by name - for example “business” for your business brain, or your website’s name for its site brain - with how complete each one is, and which of your websites uses it.
Open the business brain
Your business brain is not tied to one website, so ask for it by name: “open my business brain” or “what does my business brain say about who we sell to?”. bernard reads the part that answers the question and tells you which document it used.
Search for one thing
If you are looking for one fact - a price, a promise, how you describe a service - ask bernard to look it up. It finds the passage and names the document it came from, so you can check it.

- What is the difference between my business brain and a site brain?
- Your business brain holds what is true of the whole business: what you do, who for, how you work. Each website has its own site brain for what is true of that site. A site brain sits under the business brain, so a new site starts from what the business brain already knows.
- Can I see a brain that no website uses yet?
- Yes. Ask bernard to list your brains and it shows every one, including the business brain and any that no website points at. Ask it to open one by name and it reads that brain’s documents back to you.
- Does looking change anything?
- No. Listing and reading your brains changes nothing. A correction is only saved after bernard shows you the exact change and you approve it.
