Move my course off Teachable, Podia or Kajabi

Course platforms are a bundle: a website, hosting, email and funnels wrapped around the teaching. If your site already lives with bernard, you're paying for that bundle twice — and the platform's slice of your sales on top. Moving out is less surgery than it sounds, because a course is at heart a list: lessons, in order, each with a video and some words.

How it works

  1. Get your syllabus out. Open your course on the old platform and copy the lesson titles, order and notes. Note where each video lives — your own YouTube/Vimeo (nothing to do), or platform-hosted (download your originals first).
  2. Hand the list to Bernard. He rebuilds the course lesson by lesson — titles, order, notes, videos (Add a lesson to my course, Use the videos already on my YouTube or Vimeo) — as a private draft you review side by side with the original.
  3. Set the price and the taster (Charge once, or sell a year of access, Let people watch one lesson free), publish, approve — then cancel the old platform once you've watched a lesson play on your own site.

What changes for your learners: they buy on your site and get in by a personal email link (Let learners in without accounts or passwords). What changes for you: the money lands in your own Stripe with no platform percentage (Where the money goes when someone enrols), and your course pages carry proper machine-readable markup — something the big platforms are famously lax about — so search engines and AI assistants can actually read what you teach.

The prompt

Rebuild my course from [the platform it's on now] on my site. Here's the syllabus in order, with a video link and notes for each lesson: [paste your lesson list].

The [bracketed] parts are yours to fill in. First time? Log in to bernard → your site → Edit with AI → copy your access prompt, paste that into your AI first, then ask the above.

Questions people ask

Can I move my online course off Teachable or Podia to my own website?
Yes. Give bernard your syllabus — lesson titles in order, each with its video link and notes — and it rebuilds the course faithfully on your own site: same order, same words, your price. You review the whole thing privately and approve it before it lists.
What happens to my videos when I leave a course platform?
If they're on your own YouTube or Vimeo, nothing — lessons point at them exactly as before. If the old platform hosts them, download your originals (most platforms allow this), then re-upload to your own YouTube/Vimeo or hand bernard the files to host.
Why move at all — my course platform works?
Because you're renting the bundle twice. Teachable, Podia and Kajabi charge hundreds a year for a website, hosting and email you already have with bernard — wrapped around the teaching layer. Moving keeps the one piece you use and drops the rent on the rest; enrolment money then goes to your own Stripe with no platform cut.
