Move my courses and site off Kajabi
Kajabi is the most bundled of the course platforms, so leaving it is the one that needs a plan. Your website is in there. Your courses are in there. Your email list, your checkout and probably your funnels are in there too. Cancel before you have collected all of it and you lose things you meant to keep.
Done in the right order it is straightforward, and the saving is bigger than for a single-purpose tool, because you are replacing five things with one.
The order that works
- Move the website first. Your public pages can be read straight off your live site, so this half is quick and needs nothing assembling. It also proves the new home is real before you touch anything harder (What bernard improves automatically when it moves your site).
- Then the courses. Members-only teaching cannot be read from outside, because no visitor can reach it. Send your syllabus - lessons in order, each with its video and its notes - and the course is rebuilt faithfully (Understand how a course is put together, Add a lesson to my course).
- Then the email list. Export it. It is yours, and it took longer to build than anything else you own.
- Cancel last, once the first three are safely out and you have looked at what arrived.
Collect before you cancel
- Your videos, if Kajabi hosts them rather than YouTube or Vimeo. Download the originals while the account is live (Use the videos already on my YouTube or Vimeo).
- Your student and member list, exported.
- Your email list, exported separately - it is not the same thing.
- Your syllabus, chapter by chapter.
What has to start again
Subscriptions and payment plans cannot transfer between platforms, on any route, because a card authorised to pay one company cannot be handed to another. Members re-subscribe on your own payment account, so write to them properly beforehand rather than letting a failed renewal do the talking (Where the money goes when someone enrols, Run a membership or paid community - people pay monthly for my courses).
Funnels are rebuilt rather than carried. In practice that is usually welcome, because most funnels have accumulated steps nobody has looked at in a year.
Reading Kajabi directly
Tools that read a course platform out of your account without you assembling anything are on our roadmap, and one is already working for a different platform. Kajabi is not built yet.
Ask where it has got to when you enquire, so you know which route you are getting. The syllabus route is available today, and the course you end up with is the same.

Questions people ask
- Why is leaving Kajabi bigger than leaving other course platforms?
- Because more of your business is inside it. Kajabi is your website, your courses, your email list and often your funnels and checkout, so leaving means moving several things rather than one. It is very doable, and the saving is larger for the same reason - you are replacing a bundle rather than a single tool. Everything lands as drafts you approve.
- What order should I do it in?
- Website first, courses second, email list third, and cancel last. The site move is quick and proves the new home works. Courses take longer because someone reads them properly. Cancelling before the first two are finished is how people lose things they meant to keep.
- Is there a direct Kajabi import?
- Not yet. Tools that read a course platform straight out of your account are on our roadmap and one already works for another platform, but Kajabi has not been built. Ask us where it has got to when you enquire - the syllabus route works today and gives the same finished course.
- What about my email list and my funnels?
- Export the list before you cancel - it is yours and it is the asset that took longest to build. Forms on your new site can feed whichever email provider you choose. Funnels are rebuilt rather than carried, which is usually a good moment to simplify them.
- Will my website pages come across on their own?
- Your public pages can be read from your live site the same way any website moves, so that half does not need assembling by hand. It is the members-only teaching, which no visitor can reach, that needs your syllabus.
