What’s the difference between my site brain and my business brain?
Your site brain is the first part of your business brain. The two work as a pair.

The business brain
One per business. It holds what is true of the whole business, whichever website a customer finds: who owns it, what you offer, who you compete with, and your public footprint. In this first version it holds the public part; the deeper parts - how you work, your methods, your history - come from you over time.
The site brain
One per website. It holds what is true of that site: who it is for, how it sounds and looks, what each page is for, what it sells, and what has been decided about it. bernard drafts most of it from your site.
How they work together
A site brain sits under the business brain. When bernard needs something the site brain does not have, it looks in the business brain above it. So a second website starts from what the business brain already knows, and a fact you correct once is right everywhere.

Questions people ask
- Which one should a fact go in?
- If it is true whatever website a customer finds you on - your company details, how you work, your prices policy - it belongs in the business brain. If it is about one website - its pages, its audience, its look - it belongs in that site brain.
- Does a site brain copy the business brain?
- No. It looks up to it. When a site brain has no document on a topic, bernard reads the business brain instead, so you write a fact once.
- Can I open the business brain on its own?
- Yes. Ask bernard to open your business brain by name and it reads its documents back to you.
- Can bernard change my brain or my site without asking?
- No. bernard shows you the exact change first, and saves it only after you approve it. A change to your site is also a draft that waits for your approval before it goes live.
