Something went wrong and I want to tell someone

Bernard changed the wrong thing. Or he changed it everywhere when you meant one page. Or you spent ten minutes trying to work out where something lives and never found it. Whatever it was, the useful thing to do is say so, and the moment for that is right then, while you're annoyed and can remember exactly what you asked for.

So the way to say it sits under the box you type in, on every screen where you talk to bernard. Not buried in a settings page, not behind a support form, and not only once you've signed up: it's there while you're trying him out on a demo copy too, which is the moment most likely to go quietly wrong for someone.

You pick the thing that fits (it didn't do what I asked, it changed the wrong thing, I couldn't work out how, it took far too long, it can't do something I need, or just an idea), then you say it in your own words. One honest sentence is enough.

What happens next is worth knowing, because it's unusual. No reply comes back. There is no ticket, no queue and nobody typing an apology at you. What you wrote goes to the people who build bernard, next to bernard's own report about the same job, with a pointer to your recent goes on that site so they can see what actually happened rather than guessing from one line. It's read against what the software was really doing at the time, and what turns up repeatedly is what gets built or fixed next.

That's the whole bargain: you don't get an answer, and in exchange it costs you fifteen seconds and it genuinely lands somewhere. If what you want is an answer, ask bernard in the chat instead, and he'll tell you what he can do or walk you through what went wrong. This route is for the times you'd rather someone just knew.

The prompt

Something just went wrong while I was editing. [Describe what you asked for and what happened instead.] Tell me whether this is something I can fix myself now, and how to report it if it isn't.

Questions people ask

Do I get a reply?
No, and that's deliberate rather than rude. It goes straight to the people who build bernard as a signal about what to fix, with no inbox in between and nothing for you to chase. If you need an actual answer to something, ask bernard in the chat instead: that's the conversation, this is the complaint.
Where do I find it?
Under the box where you type to bernard, in the line that says something's not working. It's on that line wherever you're chatting to him, including while you're just trying him out on a demo copy before signing up.
Does it show bernard what I was doing, or do I have to explain everything?
It attaches a pointer to your recent goes on that site, so whoever reads it can see what actually happened rather than working from one sentence. Say what you were trying to do and what happened instead, and that's plenty.
Could reporting something change my site by mistake?
No. Sending feedback only sends words, it never touches your site, and nothing bernard does reaches your live site without your approval anyway, so a complaint is safe to send mid-job.
What if it's an idea rather than a problem?
Send it the same way and pick the idea option. Requests for things bernard can't do yet are read alongside the faults, and repeated asks for the same missing thing are how the next capability gets chosen.
Is praise handled the same way?
No, praise has its own home: put in a good word from your account, where it can be shared. This route is for when something didn't work.
