Bernard looks after things for you3 min read

Bernard says my post did not go out, or could not be confirmed. What now?

When Bernard posts for you (How does Bernard post to Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn for me?), each post either goes live, does not go out, or goes out without a confirmation. The card on your calendar shows which.

The prompt

“Which of my scheduled social posts did not go out or are not confirmed yet, and why?”

Signed in, Get my prompt fills in your site for you. Otherwise press Copy and fill in the [bracketed] parts. First time? Connect your AI to bernard once: Use your own AI (opens in a new tab).

When a post does not go out

The card says did not go out with a plain reason, and Bernard emails you once. Nothing was posted on that network. The reasons you may see:

  • The network no longer accepts bernard’s connection to this account. Reconnect it under Social accounts.
  • This account has not given bernard permission to post here. Reconnect it and allow posting.
  • The network refused this post under its own rules.
  • The network would not accept this post as it is, often because of the photo or film.
  • The network asked bernard to slow down, and the post could not go out in time.
  • The network kept failing, so Bernard stopped trying.
  • The connection to this account ran out. Reconnect it under Social accounts.
  • This account has posted as much as the network allows today.

Before sending, Bernard tries again on his own for a short while when the network is busy or does not answer. He stops once it is clear the post cannot go out in time.

Post it yourself

Under the reason, press Post it yourself. The post becomes yours to post, with the words and every photo or film you approved, in the same order:

  1. Copy the words.
  2. Share the photo or film to the network, or save each photo and add them in the order shown.
  3. Paste the words in the network’s own app and post it.
  4. Come back and tap It’s live.

Bernard does not send that post any more.

When a post is sent, not confirmed yet

Sometimes Bernard sends a post and the network’s answer never arrives. The post may be live, or it may not. The card says sent, not confirmed yet.

Bernard checks for about 15 minutes after sending:

  • Instagram, a Facebook Page and a LinkedIn company Page can be checked. If the post is there, the card turns live. If it is clearly not there, Bernard sends it once more.
  • A LinkedIn profile cannot be checked, because LinkedIn does not let bernard read your profile posts.

When Bernard cannot tell, he asks you. The card says Did this go out? and he emails you once:

  • Yes, it is live: the card turns live. You can paste the link to the post.
  • No, I will post it myself: the card hands you the post, as in Post it yourself above. Look at the network first, so the post does not appear twice.

Bernard never sends a post a second time unless he has checked that the first did not land, and never after you answered.

The other networks

Each network’s post stands alone. One failure does not stop the others.

Questions people ask

Was anything posted when a post failed?
No. A failed post means the network refused it or Bernard could not send it, so nothing was posted on that network. Bernard emails you once with the reason, and nothing is sent again without your approval.
What does sent, not confirmed yet mean?
Bernard sent the post, but the network’s answer did not arrive, so he cannot yet say whether it landed. He never sends it a second time on his own, because that could post it twice.
Does a failure on one network affect the others?
No. Each network’s post stands alone. The entry says partly posted when some went live and others did not.
Can I post it myself instead?
Yes. On a post that did not go out, press Post it yourself. The card then gives you the words and every photo or film you approved, in order, to post in the network’s own app. Bernard will not send that post.
Bernard asks me Did this go out? What do I do?
Look at the network. If the post is there, press Yes, it is live, and add its link if you like. If it is not there, press No, I will post it myself, and the card hands you the post to post yourself. Bernard never sends it again either way.
