Bernard looks after things for you2 min read

How does Bernard post to Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn for me?

Posting the same idea three ways, on time, is the part that slips. Bernard drafts the posts and you approve them with Schedule. Where he can, he then posts them for you at the time you chose. Where he cannot yet, he reminds you and hands the post to you, the way What does Bernard do about my social posts? describes.

The prompt

“Which of my social accounts can Bernard post to for me today, and which posts on my calendar will I still post myself?”

Signed in, Get my prompt fills in your site for you. Otherwise press Copy and fill in the [bracketed] parts. First time? Connect your AI to bernard once: Use your own AI (opens in a new tab).

How it works

  1. Connect the account. On the Social accounts card you connect your Instagram, Facebook Page or LinkedIn once, on the network’s own approval screen (How do I connect Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn to bernard?).
  2. Approve the post. On the calendar card you read each post, pick the account it goes to and the time, and press Schedule. Schedule is your approval of those exact words, photos, account and time.
  3. Bernard posts it. At that time Bernard sends the post through the network’s official connection. When the network accepts it, the card says live, posted by Bernard and links to the post.

While the post is going out, the card says being posted by Bernard. Stop, edit and skip wait until it has finished.

Today: once each network approves bernard

Each network has to approve bernard before he may post for anyone, and posting is switched on one network at a time after each approval. Until a network is switched on, its row on the Social accounts card says Ready to post for you once approved, and a post to it works exactly as before: Bernard reminds you at the time and you post it yourself.

When something goes wrong

If a network refuses a post, nothing is posted there, Bernard tells you why in plain words, and you can press Post it yourself. If Bernard sent a post and could not confirm it landed, the card says sent, not confirmed yet and he checks; when he cannot tell, he asks you Did this go out? Bernard says my post did not go out, or could not be confirmed. What now? explains both.

LinkedIn asks you to reconnect every so often; Bernard warns you a week ahead (Why does LinkedIn ask me to reconnect bernard every couple of months?).

What never happens

Bernard never posts anything you have not approved with Schedule, never posts at a different time, and never logs in as you. What will Bernard never do without asking me first? lists what stays with you.

Questions people ask

What does pressing Schedule mean now?
Schedule is still your approval of those exact posts at that time, whatever your setting for Bernard. Where Bernard can post for you, he posts them at that time, exactly as shown. Where he cannot yet, he reminds you at that time and hands the post to you.
Which networks does Bernard post to for me today?
Each network has to approve bernard first, and posting is switched on one network at a time after each approval. Until then the account’s row says Ready to post for you once approved, and you post that network’s posts yourself with Bernard’s reminder.
Can I still post it myself?
Yes. Leave the post’s account unchosen on the card and Bernard reminds you at the time instead of posting. Your Schedule press approves the post either way.
Does Bernard log in to my account to post?
No, never. Bernard posts through each network’s official connection, which you approved on the network’s own screen. He never asks for your password and never drives the website.
What if I change my mind?
Press Stop on the calendar, or change the post, any time before it is due. A change needs Schedule again. Once Bernard has started sending a post it cannot be stopped, and the card says This post is being sent now.
