Make it sound more like me

There's a particular flatness to website copy that was written to sound 'professional' — it could belong to anyone, which means it belongs to no one. People buy from you, not from a brochure; your site should sound like the person they'd meet at your stall.

How it works

  1. Get your access prompt. Log in to bernard, open your site, and copy the prompt from Edit with AI (it contains a key that works for 12 hours).
  2. Paste it into your AI — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, whichever you already use — then ask in your own words, or use the prompt below.
  3. Approve. The AI sends back a preview link. Read it aloud — if it sounds like you, press Approve, and it's live.

The reading-aloud test is the real one: if a sentence is something you'd never say, reject the draft and tell the AI which lines rang false. It gets closer with each pass.

The prompt

Read my site and make the writing sound more like me: [describe how you talk — e.g. friendly and plain-spoken, a bit dry, no marketing words]. Keep every fact the same.

The [bracketed] parts are yours to fill in. First time? Log in to bernard → your site → Edit with AI → copy your access prompt, paste that into your AI first, then ask the above.

Questions people ask

How do I change the tone of voice on my website?
If your site is hosted with bernard, describe how you actually talk to your AI — ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini — or paste in an email you've written, and ask it to redraft the site in that voice. You read the result on a preview and nothing goes live until you approve it.
Can the AI learn my voice from something I've already written?
Yes — paste in an email, a newsletter, or an artist statement you're happy with and say 'write like this'. A real sample of your writing works far better than adjectives.
Will it change my prices or facts while rewording?
Tell it to keep every fact the same — that's in the prompt on this page — and check the preview before pressing Approve. The AI is also under bernard's rules never to invent claims or details, and a full year of history means anything can be put back.
