Did my email bring people to my website?
Opens and clicks tell you an email was read. The question that matters is the next one: did it bring anybody to your website?

How bernard knows
Every link in your email that points at your own website carries a small label naming the email and the link (Can I see which email sent people to my website?). When somebody arrives through one, your site’s visitor numbers record which email and which link brought them. bernard reads those numbers back and puts them beside the campaign.
What you see
Under each sent campaign:
- a line such as “12 visits to your site from this email”;
- when somebody who came from the email then sends you a form on your site, the line says so too: “2 forms were sent to you from those visits”;
- a Site visits column in the link table, so you can see which link did the work.
What it does not do
- It counts visits, never people. To see the people who pressed a link, use Who clicked the link in my email?.
- It only counts visitors who accepted your cookie banner, so the true number is usually higher than the one shown.
- It only works on a site that counts its visitors.
Questions people ask
- Where do I see the visits?
- Under a sent campaign in Your customers, Email campaigns, below the opens and clicks. A line says how many visits to your site came from that email, and the link table gains a Site visits column. Reading it changes nothing and needs no approval.
- Why does it say no visits when I know people clicked?
- Your site only counts visitors who accepted its cookie banner, so a person who clicked and then said no to cookies is not counted. A visit can also take up to a day to appear. The click table, which counts people who agreed to their clicks being recorded, is the surer sign that somebody pressed a link.
- Can I see who visited?
- No. Visits are counts, never people. Your visitor numbers do not know anybody’s name, and bernard does not follow named people around your site. To see the people who pressed a link, ask Bernard who clicked it.
- I do not see a visits line at all.
- The line only appears on a site that counts its visitors and on a campaign that has been sent. If your site is not counting visitors yet, switch measuring on from Analytics, and the line appears for emails sent from then on.
- Which forms count?
- Forms Bernard built on your site, such as a contact or enquiry form, counted from 7 October 2026 onwards. A form from another provider embedded in your page is not counted, and neither is a form sent by a visitor who said no to cookies.
- I sent two emails with the same subject. Whose visits are whose?
- Each day’s visits go to the newest email with that subject that had been sent by then, so a copy you send next month does not take the first one’s visits.
