Someone is causing trouble. How do I remove them?
Removing a member from your community forum ends their access at once. Their sign-in is revoked on the bernard side, and the forum bans them and ends their open sessions. The next time they try to visit, they cannot get in.
The prompt
“Remove [name] from my community forum.”
Signed in, Get my prompt fills in your site for you. Otherwise press Copy and fill in the [bracketed] parts. First time? Connect your AI to bernard once: Use your own AI (opens in a new tab).
What stays, what goes
- Posts stay. Everything they wrote remains in the forum, credited to a former member. Nothing is destroyed.
- Access goes. Their sign-in sessions are revoked immediately - both the bernard-side device session and any open forum session.
- The door closes. The sign-in page will not send them a new link.
Your decision alone
Bernard will only remove a member on the account owner’s explicit say-so. A moderator cannot remove people - only the owner can. This is deliberate: a moderation mistake with a post is reversible in seconds; removing a person is a bigger call.
How to ask
Tell Bernard the person’s name or email and that you want them removed. You can give a reason - it is recorded in your account history but is not sent to the person. Bernard confirms who will be removed before acting.
Undoing it
Restoring a removed member will be available as a self-service tool in a future update. Until then, ask the bernard team and they will restore the person by hand.
Questions people ask
- What happens to their posts?
- Their posts stay, credited to a former member. Nothing is destroyed. If you also want individual posts taken down, ask Bernard to remove those separately.
- Can I undo it?
- Yes. Restoring a removed member is a Phase B tool. Until then, ask the bernard team and they will restore the person by hand.
- Does the person know they were removed?
- They are not sent a notification. The next time they try to visit the forum, their session will not work and the sign-in page will not send them a new link.
- Can a moderator remove someone?
- No. Removing a member requires the account owner’s explicit approval. A moderator can remove posts and lock threads, but not remove people.
