My community space — where members talk, and how I look after it
A membership people stay in is rarely just a library — it's the other people. Every membership here comes with a community built in: a room where members post and you answer, and each lesson carries its own thread of questions right where the teaching is. No separate community group platform, no second subscription for you to run.
How it works
- The room lives on the club page. Members open the same page a visitor would see the join pitch on (Run a membership or paid community — people pay monthly for my courses) — but for them it becomes the room. No extra login, no separate app.
- You hear about every post. Each one lands in your inbox with the text and a link — answer on the page, or tell Bernard what to post and it appears from you, marked as the host.
- Members get one Monday note. The week's conversation in a single email with a way back in — never a message per post, and a quiet week sends nothing, so the note stays worth opening.
- Lesson threads teach for you. Questions asked under a lesson stay under that lesson (Add a lesson to my course), where the next person with the same question will find the answer already waiting.
Hosting it well
An empty room chills the sale, so start it yourself: ask Bernard to post a welcome the day the club opens. After that, "what did the room say this week?" gets you a summary any time, and a fast reply from the host does more for renewals than any discount.
When moderation is needed
Removing a post takes it out of everyone's view without destroying it. Removing a member is deliberately gentle: their subscription ends when the period they paid for runs out, never mid-way — you stop the behaviour without taking back what was bought. Your people page shows everyone the club knows about, members included.
The prompt
“Post a welcome message in my club room saying [what you'd like to say].”
The [bracketed] parts are yours to fill in. First time? Connect bernard to your AI over MCP — a one-time setup in bernard → your site → Use your own AI — then paste the prompt above.
Questions people ask
- Do my members need another login or a separate community app?
- No. There is no separate community platform to run — the same email link that opens their courses opens the room. Visit the membership page as a member and the room is simply there; visitors who haven't joined see the join page instead.
- How do I know when someone posts?
- You get a note for each post, with the post in it — a quick reply is what keeps a room alive. Members don't get an email per post; they get one Monday note with the week's conversation, and a quiet week sends nothing at all.
- Can I remove a post, or a member?
- Yes. Ask Bernard to remove a post and it disappears from the room without being destroyed. Removing a member ends their subscription at the end of what they've paid for — never early — and both are your call alone; nothing here needs a site approval because the room isn't part of your published pages.
- Do students who bought one course see the room?
- They see the conversation under the lessons of the course they bought — members and students share those threads, which keeps them lively. The club room itself, on the membership page, is members-only.
