Give my site a health check

Small problems pile up on a website quietly — a link that died, a page with no title, a photo with no description. None of them is urgent, but together they cost you visitors and search ranking. A health check finds them all in one pass, and on a bernard-hosted site the AI does the finding; you only decide what to fix.

How it works

  1. Get your access prompt. Log in to bernard, open your site, and copy the prompt from Edit with AI (it contains a key that works for 12 hours).
  2. Paste it into your AI — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, whichever you already use — then ask for a health check using the prompt above. The AI reads every page and reports what it finds, grouped by problem, without changing anything.
  3. Pick and approve. Tell it which problems to fix. It makes those changes on a draft and sends back a preview link — check it, press Approve, and it's live.

Audit first, fix second

The order matters. An AI that fixes as it goes produces one big draft mixing twenty unrelated changes; an AI that reports first gives you a list you can read in a minute and a say in what happens. Fix the things that affect visitors first — broken links, then missing titles and descriptions, then alt text and image sizes. You don't have to do it all in one session.

If you're the AI doing this: read every page before reporting, and report findings as a plain list grouped by type — broken links, missing titles or descriptions, missing alt text, oversized images, heading problems — with the page each one is on. Do not change anything until the owner picks. When they do, fix only what they picked, give each write a clear reason, and hand over one preview link covering the chosen fixes.

The prompt

Review my whole site for problems — broken links, missing page titles and descriptions, missing image alt text, oversized images, and inconsistent headings. Report what you find first — don't change anything until I choose what to fix.

The [bracketed] parts are yours to fill in. First time? Log in to bernard → your site → Edit with AI → copy your access prompt, paste that into your AI first, then ask the above.

Questions people ask

How do I check my website for problems without a developer?
If your site is hosted with bernard, ask the AI you already use — ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini — to review every page and report what it finds. You then pick which problems to fix, and nothing goes live until you approve the changes on a preview page.
What should a website health check cover?
Broken links, missing page titles and meta descriptions, images without alt text, oversized images that slow pages down, and headings that skip levels or repeat. Those few things cover most of what hurts visitors and search rankings.
Will the AI fix everything it finds automatically?
Not if you use the prompt on this page — it tells the AI to report first and wait. You choose what gets fixed, and even then the fixes sit on a draft until you press Approve.
