Your course page has one job: help a stranger decide. Words and a syllabus do some of it; thirty seconds of you actually teaching does the rest. A trailer is that thirty seconds — cut from lessons you've already recorded, so it costs you no new filming at all.
How it works
- The easy version: just ask. "Make a trailer for my course." Bernard takes the opening 45 seconds of your free preview lesson (Let people watch one lesson free) — the lesson you already chose as your best foot forward — and turns it into a widescreen trailer for the course's public page.
- The better version: pick the moments. Up to five, from anywhere in the course. Search your teaching to find them (Where do I say that? Search inside my own lessons) — the sentence where you nail why this matters, the ten seconds where the technique clicks — and Bernard stitches them together in your order.
- The finish is done for you. Every trailer ends on a simple closing card — your site's name and "Watch the full course" — and renders in the background; you don't wait on the page. Once it's ready, it takes its place on the course page, replacing whatever trailer was there before.
Two deliberate choices worth knowing. The trailer is widescreen, because it lives in the landscape video frame on your course page — if you want a vertical cut for Reels or Stories, that's a clip, not a trailer (Turn a lesson into a shareable clip). And it carries no burned-in captions: it's a taster playing inside your own page, not a feed video fighting for a muted scroll.
A good trailer earns its keep twice — it sells the course on the page (Sell a course from my own website), and it gives you something honest to point at when you mention the course anywhere else.

- What goes into the trailer if I don't choose anything?
- The first 45 seconds of your free preview lesson — the lesson you've already picked as the course's shop window — followed by a closing card with your site's name and 'Watch the full course'. If no lesson is marked as the preview yet, set one first; it's the raw material the default trailer is cut from.
- Can I choose the moments myself?
- Yes — up to five, from any lessons in the course. Search your teaching for the moments you want, the same way you'd find a moment in a lesson, then ask for a trailer stitched from them. They play in the order you give, with the closing card added for you.
- Does the trailer need my approval to go live?
- This one's different, honestly: once the render finishes, the new trailer replaces the current one on the course's public page automatically — no separate publish step. The page around it — price, description, syllabus — still changes only when you approve. If a trailer misses, ask for another; the new render simply takes its place.
