Help me plan my prices: courses, bundles, a membership and member prices
Most course businesses do not sell one thing at one price. A course comes in a few versions, two courses go together for less, the membership is monthly or yearly, members pay less, and there is a code for the launch. Setting that up one price at a time is slow, and it is easy to end up with members paying more than visitors. Describe it once instead, and check it before anything changes.
The prompt
“Help me plan my prices. [Course] is [price] on its own, [price] with [N] months of [membership]. Members pay [price]. [Course] and [course] together are [price]. The [membership] is [price] a month or [price] a year.”

How it works
- Say how you want to sell, in your own words. For example: “Wheel Throwing is £200 on its own, £250 with three months of the studio club, which then carries on at £25 a month unless they cancel. Members get it for £100. Wheel Throwing and Glazing together are £280.”
- Bernard reads your prices as they are today (Show me all my prices in one place), so he knows every course, bundle and membership you already have.
- He shows you what each kind of buyer would pay and get: a visitor, a visitor with each code, a member, a member with a code, someone joining your membership at checkout, and someone who already owns some of a bundle’s courses. Codes never stack with each other or with a member price: the lower single price wins.
- He lists what clashes and what cannot be done yet. A member price above the public price, a bundle dearer than its courses, free months of a membership with no words on how to cancel: these are fixed with you before anything is set up. A price that changes by itself on a date is one of the things bernard cannot do yet, and he says so.
- You say yes, and it is all set up in one go as drafts: the course prices and versions (Sell one course several ways, at different prices), months of membership with a course (Give a few months of my membership with a course), member prices (Give my members a better price on my courses), bundles (Sell several courses together as a bundle), places and paying in parts (Limit how many people can buy my workshop or course, Let people pay for a course or workshop in instalments), and codes (Let people use a discount code on a course).
- You look at the pages and publish, like any other change.
If one part cannot be set up, the parts before it stay done, Bernard tells you exactly which, and he checks again for what is left.
For one change, such as a single new price, just ask for it: you do not need a plan.
Questions people ask
- Does planning my prices change anything?
- Not until you say yes. Bernard first shows you what every kind of buyer would pay and anything that clashes. Only after your yes does he set it up, as drafts, and your site changes when you approve and publish them.
- What can I describe?
- A course on its own or in a few versions, a course that comes with months of your membership, a bundle of courses, a membership monthly or yearly, a lower price for members (also for people who join at checkout), codes for everyone or for one person, a limit on places, paying in parts, a free course, and a new price for something already sold.
- What does Bernard check?
- Members paying more than visitors, a bundle that costs more than its courses bought separately, a code that would make something free for anyone, free membership months with no words on how to cancel, a version that costs more but gives less, and how many people a price change affects. Anything he must not set up is fixed with you first.
- What happens to people who already bought?
- They keep what they paid for and the access they bought. A price someone has paid is never changed: new buyers get a new price. For a membership price, you choose whether current members keep their price, move now or move at their next renewal, and Bernard shows how many are in each group first.
- What if something changed between the check and my yes?
- Bernard stops and checks again, then shows you the new answer. Nothing is set up from an out-of-date plan.
- Is anything live before I publish?
- The course and membership pages wait for your approval. Two things take effect when Bernard sets them up: a new discount code works at checkout straight away on any page that already has a code box, and members on a changed membership price keep it or move as you chose.
